Three pilots, three crippled aircraft but only one can land.
A freak mid-air collision cripples a trans-Atlantic 747 and a US Air Force jet.
What’s left of the planes’ crews struggle against the clock and overwhelming odds to save their on board survivors.
But no a…

The Weaver’s Lament
( for Angus MacPhee)
His aging hands clumsy with the straws
that jerk into the shape of head and arms
of his latest creation.
If I were you I’d be using old wire not grass,
a handful of gravel, some chalk
moulding it against some concrete wall.
Instead of dancing away like this between sand
and arum, a twirling of lines
like the nets of a trawler gathering in
all the sweet silver off the plates.
No I am not you and never will be
but instead cling to a windless pla…

( written in 2001 on eve of first Afghanistan war and 9/11)
Our Hatred
Is an object, a ball of lead shot
I carry in my stooping frame.
It has grown, layer upon layer,
like a stone in the gut
each time I see a smug, ruddy faced
son or daughter of the shires
walk blindfold through these doors.
They do not stop, for they carry no guilt.
It is washed free of their hands each day
by the sure-footed minions who keep
the ticking clock ticking, the fountain fed
The trout swimming in the moat,…

Fog Is The Key
Those of you who have followed my writing on Open Salon (as Christo46), American Chronicle or Poets in Residence (both under my full name, Christopher James Heyworth, as on here) will know that I am trying to trace how my love of literature, and poetry in particular, has come about.
I've tried to recall the earliest bits of doggerel, but I'm sure that my recognition of what was "poetic" arose relatively soon after I learned how to read in tackling "hard" texts after gaini…

I am easily distracted by, pretty much anything; a butterfly flitting by, the glint of the sun on the window; adorable puppy eyes, etc... I have found a new, delightful distraction...networking on the Net! Poems are soaring into and flitting out of my head, I have found myself delegating them to background noise. Not a very sensible thing, who swats, impatiently at words wanting to join a poem or a story. It is my good fortune that they are persistent. Last night, said words, grabbed me by the s…

BeWrite Books Publisher Caitlin Myers will be leaving the company at the end of July to start a new life in the UK.
Cait, 35, was one of a trio that brought in the first day of the millennium with a promise to somehow help new authors find their place. She kept the promise ... and then some.
Within weeks, she – along with writer/editor Neil Marr and his IT expert son, Alex – launched BeWrite.net, a non-commercial writers’ site that edited, showcased and promoted struggling authors. The site at…

I am not a lover of public transport, but I have to use it. So I jump on and off trains, and buses, Leicester to Loughborough, Loughborough to Leicester, and in tow I have my 15 year old smelly Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The one that passes wind a lot, poos on the station, and screams on the bus.
So if you see me, spare a thought, and stand well back.

“THE LIGHTHOUSE”
(Channelled by Carol Rawlins-Rheems, March 25th 2007.)
“The Lighthouse” is a beacon of Hope
When the sea is rough and foams.
This Light of safety to all at sea
Guides them safely home!
Spiritually, “Mission One Earth”
A Vision and Lighthouse be
For those who have lost their way
And are tempest-tossed at sea!
A haven safe you here will find
Far from the tempest storm.
Come and rest, be stilled my friend,
Be healed with comfort warm!
We are pledged to help you, friend,
If you…

What is the experience they call love? And can we ever come to terms with love as a deepest of Mysteries – where only the poet, mystic or visionaries can dare to touch upon love’s hidden pains, losses, & fears?
Love knows no limits; even hatred, revenge, fear, loss, emptiness, & anger are only but mere reflections of the shadows of the unreal. But through love we can discard all that holds us back; for eventually, we will be welcomed into loves eternal & everlasting enfoldment.
Who c…

I'd be interested if there were any poets who specifically worked in the round (and with music?). If there are, can you contact me?
thanks
