Profile Information

What is your connection to East Midlands area and/or Polyverse Poets?
I was born and dragged up in Leicestershire, and have now returned to my native county after a nerve-wracking 17 months in the darker recesses of the city of Nottingham. My connection to Polyverse Poets is that I founded it and run it! Also, I founded Polyverse Poetry Festival which runs from July 24-26th 2009 and will be headlined by the legend that is Carol Ann Duffy.
What kind of writer are you?
I mainly write poetry and non-fiction prose, though I have been guilty of inflicting the odd short story on the world. I often write my poetry from specific research, sometimes from inspiration, exploring and complicating issues of identity, history, cultural satire, creative use of scientific concepts, and so on.
Spam Blocker Question - where is the Polyverse Festival held?
Loughborough University

Hi Radcliff!

Glad to be a member here.

I haven't done any bullet dodging although I was shot at from a passing car. Fortunately either my head isn't as big as I think it is, or their aim was off, but I only got a headache, yep it was that close. ;-)

It'll teach me to leave a fellow poet's house that late again.

Other than that, as you know, I'm a haiku writer, and also write ekphrastic-based poems, and what I call 'colour radio' poetry.

My haiku is experiential whereas my non-haiku poetry is often semi-fictional, with exceptions.

Next Spring I'm a residential course tutor in haiku, and haikai, but in the meantime I am finishing my M.A. in Creative Writing at Bath Spa University, followed by going into my second draft of my children's novel, plus submitting poems written on the M.A.
