I am very proud to be able to announce that Carol Ann Duffy, the brand new Poet Laureate, will be giving a reading, question-and-answer session, and signing books at Polyverse Poetry festival. He appearance is supported by The Literature Network (http://literaturenetwork.org/)
* ROUNDTABLES - these are for all poets, whether you are reading/performing at Polyverse or just coming along along to enjoy a fabulous weekend. Share and learn tips, experiences, know-how, contacts, informal discussion, network, et cetera. Details of all four themed roundtables appear in the timetable below. (Devised by Kerry Orange)
The festival will feature a critically acclaimed literary show on each of the three evenings of the festival:
Stories Drummed to Polar Skies by Siobhan Logan, accompanied by a spectacular visual show. Siobhan will answer your questions and sign books afterwards.
Dreams of May, the critically acclaimed play-in-poetry, by Sue Guiney (author of Tangled Roots) will be making its first public showing outside London. It will be performed by established Shakespearean actress Rosalind Cressy, who has appeared in the hit ITV drama Footballers' Wives. The performance will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
Planet Young, the hit new show from Gerry Potter, creator and killer of the infamous Chloe Poems.
There will be several free workshops to choose from, including one especially for children, and a brilliant line-up of published poets. Many authors will be available to sign books, and the event will be attended by many others. Publishers and editors will also be there to present writers, sell books, network, and talk to anyone who wants to know more. Saturday night will also include an exclusive showcase of local up and coming writers, some who have won prestigious awards indecently young!
